Celebrity deepfakes

See the eight compared

The second category this catalogue refuses, and the one where the person searching usually has not thought about who else is involved. There are three separate legal problems here, and a fictional character has none of them.

What is being asked for

A known face attached to generated material. The appeal is recognition, and recognition is precisely the thing that converts a private generation into an act against a specific person who did not agree to it.

Position

Three separate problems, not one

Each applies independently. Clearing one does nothing about the other two.
ProblemWhat it isWho can act
Criminal Non-consensual sexual imagery statutes, which in the UK, US federal law, most US states and South Korea cover synthetic material explicitly Prosecutors, on a complaint
Likeness rights Commercial use of a person's image and identity, protected in most US states and across the EU The person, in a civil claim
Defamation Material presenting someone as having done what they did not do The person, separately again

Public figures are the group most able to pursue all three at once. That is the practical reason this part of the demand is worth nothing to anyone building something durable: the traffic is large, and every one of its destinations has a short life.

The lawful route, in full

  1. Write the character as text. Features, build, styling, manner — specific enough to be reproducible.
  2. Generate stills in an image generator until one matches, and keep the seed. That seed is what a face is, operationally.
  3. Animate from the still through image to video, which holds the character across clips far better than any prompt-only generation.
  4. If the work is stylised, the 2D branch is both cheaper per usable result and less likely to be refused by a platform's filter.

Questions

What is deepfake porn?
Sexual material in which a real person's face or likeness has been transferred onto generated or existing footage. The word covers everything from a crude face swap to a fully synthesised clip; what they share is a recognisable person who did not agree to any of it.
Does being a public figure change anything?
It makes the exposure larger, not smaller. A public figure has the same protection against non-consensual sexual imagery as anyone else, plus commercial rights in their own likeness and the means to enforce both. The recent statutes draw no distinction between a celebrity and a classmate.
What about parody or satire?
Those defences exist in some jurisdictions for some kinds of speech, and they do not stretch to sexual imagery of a named person. Treating them as a workaround is how people arrive in court holding a printout of a forum post.
Why will this page not name any tools?
Because naming them is the service they want, and a catalogue that names them has participated. The same reason it does not name any individual: a page pairing a real person's name with this subject is itself a problem for that person, whatever the page goes on to say.
What is the lawful version of this?
An invented character, defined in text and generated from scratch, then kept consistent with a saved seed and an image-to-video workflow. Nothing about it is a compromise: it produces better continuity across clips than any likeness transfer, and it belongs to you.
