How this catalogue is built

One rule produces most of what is visible here, including the empty cells: a specification is published with a source next to it, or it is not published.

Where a figure may come from

  1. The vendor's own documentation, pricing page or terms, cited with the date it was read.
  2. A statement made by the vendor in a channel it controls, quoted as such.
  3. A measurement made here, described so it can be repeated.

Nothing else qualifies. In particular, figures found on other aggregators are not a source: this category propagates wrong numbers precisely because every site copies the last one, and a wrong price about someone else's product is a defamation problem before it is an accuracy one.

What an empty cell means

That the work has not been done, not that the vendor lacks the feature. A catalogue entry with no specifications is a record of a name, its spellings and its category — useful for placing a query, useless for comparing products, and labelled accordingly.

How a tool is categorised

By the output people buy it for, not by its feature list. A companion chat that can also render stills is a chat product; a generator with a chat box attached is a generator. Products genuinely sold on two outputs are recorded as covering multiple categories, which is a statement about packaging and is treated as one on the bundle pricing entry.

The eight criteria in full

Every category page repeats the subset that applies to it. The full list, with what a failing answer looks like:

  1. Policy on real people

A generator that accepts a photograph of an identifiable person is a legal problem for whoever uploads it, and in the UK, US state law and South Korea the upload itself is the offence.

Walk away if: The tool advertises likeness transfer, face swapping or anything described as undressing a photograph.

  2. Age assurance on the platform

Platforms without an age check lose payment processors first and hosting second, which takes your purchased credits with them.

Walk away if: Entry is a single yes/no click and the terms do not mention verification at all.

  3. Who owns the output

Terms differ sharply on whether you may publish what you generate, and on whether the vendor may reuse it in training or promotion.

Walk away if: The terms grant the vendor an unlimited licence to your generations and say nothing about your own rights.

  4. What happens to prompts and uploads

Prompts in this category are sensitive by definition, and a vendor that keeps them indefinitely turns a breach into a personal disaster.

Walk away if: No retention period anywhere, no deletion route, support answers by asking for a screenshot of your billing page.

  5. Published limits

Clip length, resolution, queue position and daily generation caps are the difference between a working tool and a demo.

Walk away if: The pricing page sells 'unlimited' and the fair-use clause in the terms contradicts it.

  6. Billing and cancellation

Adult platforms are the single largest source of subscription complaints, mostly over renewals and descriptor names on the statement.

Walk away if: Cancellation requires email, the trial auto-upgrades to annual, or the statement descriptor is undisclosed.

  7. What the content filter actually blocks

An 'uncensored' tool still has a prohibited list, and knowing it beforehand saves paying for a plan that refuses your use case.

Walk away if: No published content policy, or a policy that permits categories no payment processor will touch.

  8. Export and watermarks

A watermark on the free tier is normal; a watermark that stays on a paid plan is a detail vendors bury.

Walk away if: Resolution and watermark status are absent from the pricing page and only appear after payment.

What a ranking would require

The same four fields verified across at least five products in one category: published limits, output rights, retention policy and the full price of the cheapest plan that removes the free tier's restriction. With those on file, a sorted table is defensible and the sort key can be stated. Without them, a ranking is an opinion with numbers attached, which is what the choosing page exists to replace.

Corrections

Where this site disagrees with a vendor's current documentation, the vendor is right and this page is stale. Corrections are applied with a visible revision date rather than silently, and a vendor's right of reply is recorded on the entry it concerns.
